PASSION

If there were one word to describe who we are collectively as a team, it would be passionate.  We are PASSIONATE about gaming and sports, and ultimately putting them together.

Located in Austin, Texas, Longshot Games is managed by Josh Brown, David Sassen and Curtis Ratica who have a combined 40+ years of game development experience, much of it in sports game development, and hold advanced degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics.  Collectively, we have over 30 published titles to our credit in a variety of platforms including Windows, Mac, Xbox, Nintendo, Playstation, Facebook and more.  Some of these games include EA's Madden NFL as well as NFL Street 2, NFL Street Unleashed and NFL Head Coach.
Longshot Games has been developing games and prototypes for the last 4 years, starting with a football simulation software called Field Vision which became the foundation for our current efforts with Bobblehead College Football.

DAVID SASSEN

CURTIS RATICA

Curtis began his professional career at a startup in Silicon Valley for a company called Etak.  Etak received seed money and a place to set up shop by Nolan Bushnell.  Curtis worked at Etak for 9 years as a cartographic supervisor and production manager.  Watching the company grow from 25 employees to 650 with the eventual purchase by Rupert Murdoch was certainly a major reason why Curtis has an entrepreneurial spirit.  After leaving Etak, Curtis began working towards his dream of being in the video game industry.  In 1995, Curtis began working at KnowWare where he created art for various children's games including Nickelodeon's Rugrats along with games for Knowledge Adventure and The Learning Company.  At Acclaim Entertainment, Curtis created the jungle levels for Turok: Evolution, a game with a $7MM budget as well as stadiums for Legends of Wrestling.  These games were produced for the Xbox, PS2 and Gamecube consoles.   Later, as an Art Director at Atomic Games, he was responsible for artwork for several Close Combat games which were published by Microsoft. Seeing the opportunity to develop for a new niche market, Curtis founded Cloud 9 Games, where he created several music and singing games.  Signing a music publishing and distribution deal with EMI, Curtis was able to gain access to the master tracks for top artists as well as distribrute his products to thousands of retail stores nationwide.  After 6 years of running Cloud 9 Games, Curtis sold the company to his competitor, Left Behind Games.  In 2010, Curtis began making his own niche Facebook games.  One of which had 70K monthly users at its peak. At Longshot Games, Curtis's main responsibility is creating all game art.

CURTIS RATICA
Curtis began his professional career at a startup in Silicon Valley for a company called Etak who created the world's first automobile navigation system.  Etak received seed money and a place to set up shop by Nolan Bushnell.  Curtis worked at Etak for 9 years as a cartographic supervisor and production manager.  Being a part of a company that grew from 25 employees to 650 with the eventual purchase by Rupert Murdoch was certainly a major reason why Curtis has an entrepreneurial spirit today.  After leaving Etak, Curtis began working towards his dream of being in the video game industry.  Curtis always loved video games from the first Heathkit Pong his father built, to the rare Bally Arcade and then writing his first Scott Adam's style text adventure game on a TRS 80, Model 1 (with just 4K of memory!)  His dreams came true in 1995 when Curtis began working at KnowWare where he created art for various children's games including Nickelodeon's Rugrats along with games for Knowledge Adventure and The Learning Company.  As a lead environmental artist at Acclaim Entertainment, Curtis created the jungle levels for Turok: Evolution, a game with a $7MM budget as well as stadiums for Legends of Wrestling.  These games were produced for the Xbox, PS2 and Gamecube consoles.   Later, as an Art Director at Atomic Games, he was responsible for artwork for several Close Combat games which were published by Microsoft and SSI. Seeing the opportunity to develop for a new niche market, Curtis founded Cloud 9 Games, where he designed, programmed and developed music and singing games.  Signing a music publishing and distribution deal with EMI, Curtis was able to gain access to the master tracks for top artists as well as distribrute his products to thousands of retail stores nationwide.  After 6 years of running Cloud 9 Games, Curtis was approached by Troy Lyndon, CEO of Left Behind Games and original creator of Madden Football.  After negotiations, Curtis sold Cloud 9 Games to Left Behind Games in 2010.  Later in 2010, Curtis began making his own niche Facebook games.  One of which had 70K monthly users at its peak. At Longshot Games, Curtis's main responsibility is creating all game art.
